When a group of people are discriminated against, they are not given the respect that they deserve. People who are Hispanic are not respected by some groups of other people and are viewed as inferior. Jason Richwine, a man who has a doctorate from Harvard, wrote "
No one knows whether Hispanics will ever reach I.Q. parity with whites, but the prediction that new Hispanic immigrants will have low-I.Q. children and grandchildren is difficult to argue against” (Sanchez 1). Even some people who are intelligent, such as Richwine, view Hispanics as inferior. This case can be related to Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. In the book, The white imperialists view the Nigerian tribes as uncivilized animals when the tribes really have their own justice systems and laws. The white imperialists don't respect the tribes and even trick them into coming to a peace meeting and then arresting their leaders and imprisoning them. Hispanics are forced to undergo situations like those of the tribesmen, where they are fired from their jobs because of their race or they are falsely seen as criminals based on stereotypes. The tribesmen were not respected and neither are Hispanic people today by certain groups of people.
